Green Silicon Carbide (Green SiC / Green Carborundum) is produced from petroleum coke and high-grade silica stone, with salt as additive, smelted at high temperature around 2200°C in electric resistance furnace.
Key Features:
-It features green hexagonal crystals, brittle but sharp edges, good thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity.
-With Mohs hardness of 9.2~9.4, it is harder than fused alumina, only inferior to diamond, cubic boron nitride and boron carbide. Its specific gravity is 3.20~3.25 g/cm³, and bulk density ranges from 1.2 to 1.6 g/cm³.
-High purity and excellent self-sharpening property make green silicon carbide chemically stable and acid & alkali resistant.
Available Grades:
‑ Standard grade: SiC ≥99.0%
Main Applications:
- Precision grinding, lapping and polishing of tungsten carbide, optical glass, advanced ceramics and sapphire
- Premium raw material for refractory products
- Production of wear-resistant components
- Cutting media for photovoltaic and semiconductor industries
